The Three Little Pigs
Three little pigs build three houses, and only the strong brick one keeps the wolf out.
Once upon a time, a mother pig had three little pigs. One day she said, “You are big enough now to build houses of your own.” So the three little pigs kissed their mother goodbye and set off down the road.
The first little pig met a man with a bundle of straw. “Please may I have some straw to build a house?” he asked, and the man said yes. The second little pig met a man with a bundle of sticks, and he built a house of sticks. The third little pig met a man with a load of bricks. He worked all day long, and he built a strong house of bricks with a big chimney.
Soon a big bad wolf came along and knocked on the door of the straw house. “Little pig, little pig, let me come in!” “Not by the hair of my chinny chin chin!” said the first little pig. “Then I’ll huff, and I’ll puff, and I’ll blow your house in!” So he huffed, and he puffed, and he blew the straw house down. The first little pig ran as fast as he could to his brother’s house of sticks.
The wolf followed him and knocked on the door of the stick house. “Little pigs, little pigs, let me come in!” “Not by the hair of our chinny chin chins!” said the two little pigs. So the wolf huffed, and he puffed, and he blew the stick house down. The two little pigs ran as fast as they could to the brick house, and their brother let them in.
The wolf knocked on the door of the brick house. “Little pigs, little pigs, let me come in!” “Not by the hair of our chinny chin chins!” said the three little pigs. The wolf huffed, and he puffed, and he huffed, and he puffed, but the brick house did not move at all.
Then the wolf had a sneaky idea, and he climbed up onto the roof. The third little pig heard him and put a big pot of hot water on the fire. Down the chimney slid the wolf, and his tail landed in the pot with a splash! “Ow, ow, ow!” howled the wolf, and he shot straight back up the chimney. He ran away over the hills, and he never came back again.
The three little pigs danced around the fire and laughed and laughed. After that, they lived together, safe and snug, in the strong brick house.
