Playtime: games for kids after lessons, opened with a ticket
Three- and four-year-olds want to play after a little while of learning, and that is completely normal. Playtime in Dino Kids fits play in between lessons without letting it take over: finish a lesson and your child gets a ticket, each ticket opens one short round, the round ends on its own, and back they go to learning.

Seven games in Playtime
Four quick games take a few minutes; the other three are puzzles that go from easy to hard. Every game is played with one finger, and the question is read aloud, so a child who cannot read yet plays on their own.
- Letter Bubbles: for 30 seconds, your child pops the bubbles carrying the letter the app reads out. Straight after a Japanese lesson the bubbles switch to hiragana, so playing is also a little revision.
- Catch the Color: your child catches the colour they hear.
- Count and Tap: your child taps as many stars as the app asks for.
- Glow Doodle: everything they draw glows. It is always open, no ticket needed.
- Maze: 150 puzzles in Day maze and 150 in Night maze, each with exactly one way out; each mode has 30 large-grid puzzles that only appear on iPad.
- Join the numbers: 100 pictures, each number read aloud in the app's language: Vietnamese, Japanese, English, Korean or Chinese.
- Flip cards: 100 puzzles over 193 national flags; a match says the country's name.
For Maze, Join the numbers and Flip cards, one ticket is one puzzle. How small children get on with mazes, and why every one has a single way out, is in mazes for preschoolers.
Learn first, then play: how tickets work
Tickets only come after lessons: colouring a picture and getting stars for it, finishing a Getting ready for school lesson, writing a letter all the way through. Once your child has done enough lessons, a small "You got a play ticket!" note appears in the corner for about three seconds, then fades. It has no buttons and does not block your child's finger, so the lesson carries on and nothing pulls them into a game. When it is time to play, they go back to the home screen and tap the Playtime banner.
When the tickets run out, the Dino reminds your child to go back and learn for more, and the games that need a ticket fade. Tickets never expire, and if your child opens a game and leaves before playing, the ticket comes back.
You choose how many lessons earn a ticket
Settings (behind a question for grown-ups) has five rules. The rule is set for the whole device; tickets are counted for each child.
- By age: under 5, one lesson earns a ticket; 5 and over, two lessons.
- 1, 2 or 3 lessons: the same rule for every child.
- Free play: no tickets, every game is open.

Stickers, 43 badges and the Dino companion
Every finished lesson drops a sticker into the bag. There are 72 stickers in 6 sets that open one after another, and the twelfth sticker in each set sparkles. Nothing is random: stickers arrive in a fixed order, so your child knows what is coming next. There are also 43 badges for colouring, writing, lessons, exploring and coming back day after day; badges only ever add up, and nothing is ever taken away.
At the top of Playtime is the Dino: it starts as an egg, hatches, then grows through five stages with the stars your child collects while learning. Tickets, stickers and the Dino live on the device, need no connection and do not sync to other devices.
Night maze challenge, and the rules behind Playtime
- Night maze challenge: each dead end asks one three-choice question. Math is on by default; a parent can switch each child to one of the five languages, or turn it off.
- Ten levels, about 15,000 questions: ten right in a row moves up a level, three wrong in a row moves down one so your child does not give up. Levels 1 and 2 work for a child who cannot read yet, and results stay on the device.
- Mazes that grow: 120 day and 120 night mazes on every device, plus 30 larger ones of each on iPad. After the first 20, difficulty grows through longer paths, more junctions and deeper wrong turns, not smaller squares.
Basis: the games follow design rules rather than a teaching standard. Every maze has exactly one solution, proved by a solver before release; numbers are read aloud as they are joined, using counting rules checked for each language; stickers come in a fixed order, with no random prize boxes; and there is no streak to lose and no countdown to beat.

Questions parents ask
Do the Playtime games have ads or in-app purchases?
No. Dino Kids is free, with no advertising, no in-app purchases and no subscription. Every game and puzzle in Playtime is open; all your child needs is a ticket earned in a lesson.
Will my child keep playing and never stop?
One ticket opens one round, and every round ends on its own: Letter Bubbles runs for 30 seconds, Catch the Color and Count and Tap stop after a few rounds, and Maze, Join the numbers and Flip cards stop after one puzzle. With no tickets left, your child goes back to a lesson to earn the next one. Only Glow Doodle is always open.
Can my child play without the internet?
Yes. Playtime needs no connection and no account.
What if I want my child to play freely, without tickets?
In Settings, under Playtime, choose Free play. Every game opens and the ticket row is hidden.
